Jake Bilotta were both named Third Team All-America by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) at the Opening Ceremony of the NCAA Division III College World Series on Thursday night. It is Stagowski's second All-America selection this season, as he was named a Second Team All-American yesterday by D3baseball.com. This is in addition to being voted First Team All-Region by both D3baseball.com and the ABCA, the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Baseball Position Player of the Year, First Team All-NACC and the Rockford University Co-Male Athlete of the Year. Bilotta was also named First Team All-Region by both the ABCA and D3baseball.com earlier in the week and was selected Second Team All-NACC. This marks the first time that Rockford has had two All-America selections in the same year since the 2007 season.
Joseph Stagowski capped off his time as a Regent with the best year of his collegiate career. Stagowski ended the season ranked in the top twenty in the NACC in an amazing twelve offensive categories, including leading the conference in six of them. He led the NACC in doubles (22), OPS (1.372), slugging percentage (.847), hit by pitches (17), walks (36) and on-base percentage (.525). Stagowski also finished second in home runs (14) and total bases (122), third in runs scored (56), fourth in RBIs (49), sixth in triples (3) and seventeenth in batting average (.361). Nationally, he ranked in the top fifty in ten categories among all NCAA Division III baseball players. Stagowski entered the final week of the NCAA Division III baseball season ranked fourth in doubles, sixth in doubles per game and slugging percentage, twenty-fourth in home runs, thirtieth in home runs per game and runs per game, thirty-second in total bases, thirty-sixth in walks and forty-seventh in on-base percentage and walks per game. During the season he was also named the NACC Position Player of the Week once and broke multiple program records. Stagowski eclipsed the previous school record for doubles in a career (54). He is also the new single-season record holder for slugging percentage (.847) and doubles (22), and he tied the career home runs record (33).
Jake Bilotta culminated his RU baseball career with his best year as a Regent. Bilotta anchored down the leadoff spot in the order for Rockford the entire season and ended his career on a 29-game hitting streak. The senior broke four school records this year and tied a fifth. He broke the school records for stolen bases in a season (28), doubles in a career (59), runs in a career (184) and at bats in a career (646). He also tied the school record with 4 stolen bases in Rockford's 11-2 win at Lakeland. Bilotta ended the year in the top twenty in the conference in thirteen categories. He led the NACC in runs scored (65), finished fourth in stolen bases (28) and total bases (108), fifth in hits (63) and doubles (17), seventh in home runs (8) and slugging percentage (.621), eighth in OPS (1.077) and at bats (174), eleventh in on-base percentage (.456), fourteenth in triples (2), fifteenth in batting average (.362) and sixteenth in walks (24). Additionally, Bilotta ranked in the top fifty among all NCAA Division III baseball players in five categories. He entered the final weekend of the NCAA Division III baseball season ranked fifth in runs per game, tenth in run scored, forty-second in doubles, forty-third in stolen bases and forty-fifth in stolen bases per game.
Rockford University ended the season with a 24-17 overall record, including a 13-11 mark in NACC play. The Regents finished in sixth place in the conference to earn their second straight trip, and tenth overall berth, to the NACC Tournament.
