ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University men's volleyball team took on the Concordia University Chicago Cougars on Thursday night. The Cougars left with the win, 3-0.
Jordan Hurst led the Regents in kills with 10.
Tsubasa Namai piled up 22 assists and a block.
Jacob Brewster paced the team with 14 digs.
Concordia Chicago had the upper hand from the first serve. They never relinquished control, going up 18-6 in the set before winning 25-11.
The second set was much different. It was the Regents who had control to start, leading 12-6. CUC was able to cut the deficit to one before multiple
Josh Bowling kills put Rockford up 21-16. The Cougars launched a furious comeback, riding a 10-3 run the rest of the way to steal set number two, 26-24.
The final set followed much of the same script as the first. CUC had the momentum to lead it off, starting up 12-5. Rockford could never find their stride, only climbing within 6 points once en route to a 25-14 loss.
The Regents will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 21, when they will compete at the Dominican Triangular. First match will be vs. Dominican on the road at 10 a.m. CST.
