ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford University men's volleyball team fell short to NACC conference opponent Edgewood University, 3-0, on Saturday. Set scores were 25-12, 25-18, 25-20.
Jordan Hurst totaled 10 kills while
Tsubasa Namai had 24 assists.
Aaron John Reyes tallied one ace.
On the defensive side,
Nathan Simons had a team-high nine digs while
Josh Bowling and Hurst had one block each.
Tied at six, A 6-0 run in the middle of the first set allowed Edgewood to gain separation early. The Eagles were able to keep their foot on the gas which gave them a 13-point win.
Similar to the first set, the Regents surrendered another big scoring run up 13-10 as the Eagles went on a 9-0 run to go up 19-13. Unfortunately for the Regents, they were never able to recover as they ended up falling short to go down 2-0.
The third set was very competitive as Rockford gained its first lead of the set as a result of a setting error, taking a 14-13 lead. The Regents held the lead until they gave it up when Edgewood scored three unanswered to take a 19-17 lead. A kill from Hurst on the very next point made it 19-18, but the Eagles scored four straight to take the match.
The Regents will return to action on Tuesday, March 10, when they will face non-conference opponent Maranatha Baptist University at 7 p.m. CDT.
