Mersch and Williams Break Outdoor Records at Beloit Relays

BELOIT, Wis. -- The Rockford University women's outdoor track & field team competed at the Beloit Relays on Friday. The Regents placed fourth as a team. 

Haylee West ran the 3,000m steeple chase in 13:44.63 and finished second overall in the event. 

In the 1500m run, Courtney Murphy finished fourth individually running the race in 5:34.33. Isabella Trout placed sixth with a time of 5:35.23. 

Both Mariah Williams and Ella Oldham competed in the 100m dash. Williams placed seventh with a time of 13.45 and Oldham finished in 16th clocking in at 15.48. 

In the 800m run, both Brianna Torres and Courtney Murphy recorded top 10 finishes. Torres ran the 800m run in 2:40.48 to place sixth while Murphy was just over four seconds behind to finish ninth overall with a time of 2:44.52. Donna Whiteside finished with a time of 3:07.33 to finish 20th. 

Trout also ran the 400m hurdles in 1:23.65 to place sixth overall. 

In the 200m dash, Williams clocked in at 28.18 to finish in third place. 

Murphy, West, Whiteside, and Torres all ran the 4X400m relay in 4:56.64 to finish second overall in the relay. 

In the field events, Ashley Mersch threw for 9.01m (29-6.75) in the Shot Put, placing seventh. In the Discus Throw, Mersch broke the school record with a throw of 38.85m (127-6.00) and won the event outright. Mersch broke Kaylynne Terry's record of 37.60m set on May 5, 2018.

Williams also broke the school record in the triple jump and finished third overall in the event with a jump of 10.12m, breaking Heather Goodrich's record from May 20, 2011.

The Regents will return to action on Saturday, April 18, at the Green and White Invitational.
