Women's Flag Football Drops Pair at Benedictine Flag Fest

LISLE, Ill. -- The Rockford University women's flag football team fell twice to Illinois College and Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday. The Regents fell 12-0 in the first game before falling to Illinois Wesleyan in the second game, 33-7. 

The Regents will return to action on Saturday, April 18, for two road games against William Woods University and Kansas Wesleyan University. Rockford will face Kansas Wesleyan at 11 a.m. CDT followed by Kansas Wesleyan at 12:30 p.m. CDT. 

Game One: Illinois College 12, Rockford 0

Amari Camacho-Anderson led Rockford through the air going 16-29 for 113 yards and two interceptions. 

Quentasia Mills was the leading rusher for the Regents rushing for 38 yards off four carries. 

Emily Lind had a team-high 49 receiving yards off four catches while Mercedes Morales led the Regents in receptions with five totaling for 30 yards. 

On the defensive side, Gina Neils had a team-high eight tackles. Kezia Jolicoeur recorded Rockford's only sack and finished the day with four tackles. 

After a scoreless first quarter, Illinois College scored a touchdown on a 21-play drive that took exactly six minutes as the Lady Blues failed their PAT attempt and led 6-0 going into halftime. 

The Lady Blues scored again on a 13-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter and once again failed on their PAT attempt. 

Unfortunately for the Regents, they were unable to cross the goal line as Illinois College was able to hang on in this defensive battle. 

Game Two: Illinois Wesleyan 33, Rockford 7

Camacho-Anderson completed 17 of her 29 pass attempts with one touchdown and four interceptions. 

Mills rushed for 12 yards off four rushing attempts. 

Reem Aldi made four receptions for 43 yards while Te Simpson caught one 28 yard pass which resulted in a touchdown. 

Neils again led Rockford in tackles with eight while Tekiyah Gray and Jolicoeur both had three tackles and a sack. 

The Regents surrendered a safety early in the first quarter to trail 2-0. Illinois Wesleyan threw a 41-yard touchdown as time expired in the first quarter as the Titans led 9-0 after the first. 

Illinois Wesleyan ultimately pulled away, scoring three touchdowns to go up 27-0 at halftime. 

After a scoreless third quarter, Illinois Wesleyan scored again off a 26-yard touchdown pass. Five minutes later Simpson scored the only touchdown for the Regents on a 28 yard connection from Camacho-Anderson on a 12-play drive that took 6:23.
