BELOIT, Wis. -- The Rockford University baseball team defeated nonconference opponent Beloit College, 7-3, on Monday.
The Regents will return to action on Tuesday, April 21, with another nonconference matchup against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers, with the first pitch set for 1 p.m. CDT.
Rockford 7, Beloit 3
Marcus Taylor went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
Trent Lawrence also had two hits, both doubles, going 2-for-4 and adding an RBI.
Blaise Mace added a hit, going 1-for-4 with a team-high two RBIs.
Seven Regents got action on the hill.
Joey Bisesi got the start, throwing for the first inning, allowing one run, two hits with one strikeouts.
Nate Burdin came in for Bisiesi in the second forcing two strikeouts.
Logan Bennett came in the third surrendering two runs off three hits with one strikeout.
Kyle Koerner then went on the mound with one inning of work allowing one hit.
Drake Floden then threw for three innings allowing just one hit while totaling a team-high five strikeouts.
Sidney Atkins closed out the final inning with three strikeouts with one inning of work.
Beloit plated one run with an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the first after three-straight strikeouts for Rockford in the top of the inning, as the Buccaneers led 1-0.
The Regents responded with a home run from Taylor in the first at-bat of the second and took the lead in the third with a sacrifice fly from Lawrence to give the Regents a 2-1 lead after three.
Beloit responded in the fourth with an RBI single down the left and right field lines in the fourth to regain the lead with a two-run inning.
The Regents tied things up in the fifth when Lawrence plated an unearned run as Mace reached first on an error to add an RBI.
Rockford took full control of the game the rest of the way in the sixth with a three-run inning.
Myles Foy got things started off for the Regents, plating an unearned run due to a throwing error by the Beloit catcher.
Kadin Bergstrom then roped a ball to right field, resulting in an RBI double, and Taylor ended up knocking an RBI single to left field as Rockford took a 6-3 lead.
The seventh and eighth innings were both scoreless as Mace recorded a sacrifice fly to tally the last insurance run of the day for Rockford.
