Box Score ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Regents women's volleyball team (4-19, 1-9 NACC) battled it out with Dominican University (7-16, 4-6 NACC) in a Tuesday night match that ended with Dominican winning 3-1. The Regents played one of their best games of the season despite the loss, challenging Dominican in almost every set. Brynn Atwell had one of her best days serving the ball, scoring multiple aces. After winning the first set, Dominican was able to recover after dropping a the second to the Regents, taking the final two sets to win the match.



First Set

• It was an evenly balanced first set, but Rockford took a 9-7 lead due to three straight Brynn Atwell service aces. She would get a fourth later on.
• After a series of runs by both sides, Dominican took over late in the set, scoring six of the last seven points to take the first set 25-18.

Second Set

• The second set was a rollercoaster for both teams. Rockford pulled into a lead mid way through the set at 9-8.
• Rockford held a lead at 14-10, but a 5 point run by Dominican put the Stars on top again 15-14.
• Rockford made a great run as well later on, holding on to Dominican and eventually putting together a four point run to take the lead 20-18.
• The Stars would keep the game interesting and come back to tie the set at 22-22.
• Nicole Eggers however, scored a pair of aces after getting the serve back to win the set for the Regents 25-22.

Third Set

• Dominican bounced back very strong in the third set. Taking a very early 13-4 lead.
• Rockford worked the score back to 17-11, but the Stars would not let the Regents back into the game, scoring their way to 25 and only allowing Rockford to tally four points more. Dominican won the set 25-15.

Fourth Set

• Rockford and Dominican traded leads through the entirety of the fourth set, going back and forth until the 21-20 score mark.
• Rockford was ahead at this point, but the Stars would rally for four points late, going up 24-21.
• The Regents would score two points to get it to 24-23, but the last point went to the Stars, winning the set and the match 25-23.

• Della Crain had the team-high in kills with 12
• Jessica Witkowski had 17 assists for the Regents.
• Nicole Eggers and Della Crain each had 2 blocks 
• Brynn Atwell had 6 aces in the match. She also led in digs with 15.

The RU women's volleyball team will head north to Madison, Wisconsin to take on Edgewood College this Friday, October 22nd at 7pm.
