LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University softball team (9-11, 1-7 NACC) split a pair of NACC games against Marian University (7-12, 2-6 NACC) on Monday evening. Marian capitalized early in both games, scoring in the top of the first in each, but the Regents were able to put together a strong offensive push in the nightcap to win by a score of 6-3. The second game marked the Regents first NACC win of the season. Breanna Collins had a good day at the plate, she hit four-for-seven in the two games, finishing with a pair of triples, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's.


Game 1

• Marian got off to a hot start in the top of the first. A double to left field scored a runner from third to open the scoring 1-0. A follow-up single scored the next two to make it 3-0 after the top of the first.
• Rockford responded in the bottom of the inning with a run of its own. Michaela Spanbauer hit a single to left center to score Emily Cox from third. The Regents went into the second trailing 3-1.
• The Sabres built up their lead with a two-run double in the top of the second to make it 5-1, and a wild pitch scored another in the third inning to make it 6-1.
• RU got a run back in the bottom of the third when Breanna Collins hit a triple and later scored when Isabella Intravaia hit a single to right field.
• Neither side could get any runs across the plate the remainder of the game. After a pair of one-out singles in the seventh by Rockford, Marian recorded the final two outs to take the opener 6-2. 

Game 2

• Marian got on the board early again thanks to a ground-rule double that scored the opening run to make it 1-0. The Sabres added a second run in the second inning when a double scored a runner from first to make it 2-0 Sabres.
• The Regents got their first run of the nightcap when Michaela Spanbauer scored thanks to a Jocelyn Callahan single to left field to cut the lead to 2-1. Things were looking up with runners at second and third, but the inning was cut short on a double play at first base and home plate that sent the game into the third inning.
• Marian went down in order and brought the Regents back up to bat. Elizabeth Thomas doubled to start the inning, and Candace Kipp moved her to third on a single to left field. Michaela Spanbauer brought in Thomas with a single to even the game at 2-2.
• Rockford gained the lead in the fifth inning, starting with Candace Kipp hitting a ground-rule double to score Elizabeth Thomas. Leading 3-2, Breanna Collins hit her second triple of the day, this one scoring two more runs to make it 5-2. Isabella Intravaia scored Collins right after due to a fielding error and Rockford led 6-2.
• Marian did all it could to mount a comeback but only scored one more run on a fielder's choice before the game ended. Rylee Klema finished off her complete game by striking out the final Marian batter and giving Rockford its first NACC win of the season 6-3.

• Breanna Collins was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run.
• Emily Cox hit 2-for-4 with a double and a run.
• Isabella Intravaia was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
• Candace Kipp was 2-for-4.
• Michaela Spanbauer was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Game 2

• Breanna Collins hit 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI's.
• Michaela Spanbauer was 1-for-1 with 2 runs, 2 walks, and an RBI.
• Candace Kipp was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
• Jocelyn Callahan was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
• Rylee Klema pitched a complete game with 4 strikeouts and only allowing 2 earned runs.
