ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team took a 3-1 win over the visiting Mount Mary University Blue Angels. The Regents were able to take the first two sets convincingly, 25-13 and 25-19, to grab a quick 2-0 lead in the match. After a slight set back in the third set, the Regents responded to put the match away winning the fourth set 25-14 and the match 3-1. This marks the second time the Regents have defeated the Blue Angels 3-1 this season.
- The Regents got out to a comfortable 13-6 lead in set 1, backed by 2 kills from Alexx Burton and Alexis Brashaw and 1 by Amelia Rodriguez, Leila Cooks, and Melody Moreno.
- The Regents went on a 12-7 run with 3 points coming from Melody Moreno kills and took the first set 25-13 over the Blue Angels.
- The Blue Angels started out the second set with a 10-4 lead.
- The Regents were able to battle back to a 15-15 tie with help coming from 3 kills from Alexis Brashaw and 1 by Grace Vyborny, Alexx Burton, Amelia Rodriguez and Melody Moreno.
- The Regents were able to go on a 9-4 run with the Regents getting 7 straight points at one point and took set 2 25-19 and went up 2-0 in the match.
- The third set was quite back and forth with this set starting out 10-10.
- The Regents were able to secure a 24-21 lead over the Blue Angels, but they were able to score 5 straight points to win the third set 26-24 and make the match score 2-1.
- Rockford was not messing around to start the forth set, leading 10-5 with 2 kills from Alexx Burton, Alexis Brashaw, and Amelia Rodriguez.
- The Regents took care of business and went on a 15-9 run and took the forth set 25-14 and secured the match win 3-1.
- Leila Cooks had 46 assists and 17 digs on the day, which broke her previous best for assists by 16.
- Amelia Rodriguez had 13 kills for the Regents, which is tied for her season high, which was also against Mount Mary.
- Alexis Brashaw had 12 kills and 2 blocks
- Alexx Burton had 11 kills and 12 digs, her 11 kills are a season high.
