LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford University softball team picked up a win and fell in a close second game against CUC Tuesday night. A third inning explosion in game one by the Regents put them in the lead and got them a comfortable win in game one 7-2. Having the lead late in game two, Rockford fell behind in the seventh and failed to regain the lead, falling 4-3.

- Both sides were held in check for the first two innings of competition. Mariah Martinez played a great game with seven innings pitched with two strikeouts.
- Rockford got on the board first. Bella Lima came around to score on a Candace Kipp double.
- A long Emily Down single shortly after scored Candace Kipp. Jocelyn Callahan came in to score on a passed ball, expanding the score to 3-0.
- CUC got one back in the fifth inning on a line out that scored a runner from third.
- The Regents came up to bat in the bottom of the inning, led off with Candace Kipp drawing a walk. Jocelyn Callahan drove her in on a triple to right center, making it 4-1. Callahan came in to score thanks to an error and made it 5-1. Later in the inning, Lauren Zielinski scored on a wild pitch, and a Makayla Howard double scored Enedy Perez from third to add even more to the lead at 7-1.
- A sacrifice fly in the seventh by Concordia Chicago was the only run the Cougars managed before the final out, giving the Regents the win 7-2.
Concordia Chicago 4 Rockford 3
- Concordia Chicago got the scoring started early with a pair of singles and a triple to score the first two runs of the game.
- The Regents got one run back with a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Bella Lima to tighten the score to 2-1.
- A quiet middle of the game led up to another Rockford run after a groundout to the right side allowed Kariana Williams to score and tie the game 2-2.
- The bottom of the sixth delivered the tie-breaker with Michaela Froehlich doubling and scoring Enedy Perez after an error allowed her to make it home.
- With another loss on the horizon, the Cougars didn't back down. CUC worked a runner over to third, who scored on a double to tie the game again. A costly fielding error in the next at-bat scored the go-ahead run to put Concordia Chicago ahead 4-3.
- The Regents got a pair of runners on base, but couldn't convert, giving the Cougars the win 4-3.
