ROCKFORD, Ill - The Rockford University women's volleyball team swept Beloit College 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-19) to start their season on a good note. Of the 21 volleyball matches played between these two teams, this marks the first time the Regents have beat Beloit in straight sets. The Regents had the advantage in kills (33-25), blocks (5-2), assists (31-23), and digs (88-82) in what was a great all-around performance by the Regents in their home opener.
- The Regents would dominate early in the first set storming out to a 9-2 lead that Beloit would almost equalize later on in the set at 13-12, but the Regents would hold on to the first set with four-straight points at the end of the set to take the first set 25-19.
- The second set would start out a little closer than the first with the Regents getting out to a 4-3 lead to start the set and this set would be back and forth and Beloit would stay right on Rockford's heels the whole match, even making the match 22-23 with the second set finishing up.
- The Regents would ultimately hold on in the second set with back to back errors by Beloit to put Rockford up 2-0 in the match.
- Rockford would continue its dominance over Beloit getting out to an 18-10 lead in the third set looking to send Beloit home without taking a set
- Kills from Amelia Rodriguez and Alexx Burton would complete the third set for the Regents winning 25-19.
- Rockford won in straight sets to Beloit 3-0 in what was a great first match for the Regents.
