Women's Volleyball Swept at Lakeland

PLYMOUTH, Wis. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team fell in straight sets on road Saturday afternoon to the Lakeland University Muskies. Rockford struggled to get much going offensively for the majority of the match. The Regents finished with just 22 kills in the match, with 12 of them coming in the first set. Conversely, Lakeland tallied at least 12 kills in every set and finished with 45 for the match. With the win, Lakeland has now clinched a spot in the NACC Tournament for the third consecutive season.

  • Lakeland jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead in the opening set of the match. 
  • Rockford responded with a 5-2 spurt of its own and tied the match at 6-6 on Madisen Perry kill. 
  • Unfortunately, Lakeland promptly went on an 11-4 run to seize control of the opening set. 
  • The Regents never got any closer than four the rest of the way and dropped the first set 25-19. 
  • This time it was Rockford who got off to a fast start to begin the second set. The Regents opened on a 6-4 run, capped off by a Tamsy Leverton kill, to take the early lead.
  • However, Lakeland hit right back with a 9-1 run of its own to take a 13-7 advantage. 
  • The Muskies built their lead up to as many as ten on six different occasions before winning the set 25-16 to take a 2-0 lead. 
  • Lakeland took an early lead 10-5 lead in the third set and never really looked back. 
  • With the Muskies now leading by four at 13-9, Lakeland went on a 10-4 run to take a commanding 23-13 advantage. 
  • Lakeland then scored two of the next three points to win the set 25-14 and the match 3-0.
