Women's Volleyball Stumbles Against WLC

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors in a Saturday night NACC meeting. The Warriors were in control of every statistical category in the match, with the largest discrepancy coming in aces at 16-1. Rockford played well in the first set with Wisconsin Lutheran, holding a lead for a majority of the set, but unfortunately fell 25-20. The Warriors never looked back after taking the first set, taking the next two sets 25-12 and 25-13, giving them the win in straight sets.

  • Rockford got out to a slight 7-4 lead to open the first set after the Regents got back-to-back kills from Alexx Burton and Madisen Perry
  • The Warriors were able to battle back into the set and tie it at 13-13, but Rockford was able to get two kills by both Alexx Burton and Madisen Perry as well as some Warriors errors to give the Regents the slight 20-19 lead late in the set. 
  • Unfortunately, WLC scored the next six points in a row to steal the first set from the Regents and take a 1-0 lead in the match. 
  • The Warriors rolled out to an 11-3 lead to open the second set. 
  • Rockford never really found its footing in this set and the Warriors stayed in control, eventually taking the second set 25-12 to go up 2-0 in the match. 
  • The Regents and Warriors opened the third set in a 3-3 tie after kills from Madisen Perry and Amelia Rodriguez made it all square. 
  • WLC then went on a 14-5 run to take a 17-8 lead and the Warriors never looked back as they were able to take the third set 25-13 and win the match in straight sets.
