APPLETON, Wis. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team opened its season by dropping a pair of matches on Wednesday in a triangular at Lawrence University. The Regents fell 3-0 in a non-conference tilt to Marian University, and then dropped their second match of the day 3-0 to host Lawrence University. Rockford held a lead in two of the sets against the Sabres and was competitive in all three. Unfortunately, the Sabres had a 34-22 advantage in kills and a 12-5 edge in service aces to propel them to victory. The Regents appeared as though they would win the opening set of their match against Lawrence, but the Vikings' vicious late rally won them the set and propelled them to a victory in straight sets. Lawrence also held advantages in kills, 46-22, aces, 9-3, and blocks, 6-1.

Marian 3 Rockford 0
- Rockford was in firm control in the opening portion of the first set, outscoring Marian 11-6. Amelia Rodriguez and Jalyn Rhodes led the RU offensive attack with 2 kills and an ace and 2 kills respectively.
- However, the Sabres promptly went on a 10-2 run to take their first lead since the opening point of the match at 16-13.
- The Regents would tie the set at 16-16 and then again at 17-17 following another Jalyn Rhodes kill.
- Unfortunately, the Sabres scored the final 8 points to win the first set 25-17.
- The second set saw Marian jump out to a quick 3-point lead at 8-5.
- Rockford responded with a 4-0 run to take its first lead of the second set at 9-8.
- However, the Sabres essentially put the set away over the next 15 points. Marian outscored Rockford 12-3 over that span en route to winning the second set 25-15 and taking a 2-0 lead.
- Rockford quickly fell behind 8-2 to start the third and final set.
- With Marian still leading by six at 13-7, Rockford went on a 5-2 run to pull back within three points at 15-12. Three different Regents had a single kill over that span.
- Unfortunately, Marian put the match away with a 9-4 run, as the Sabres went on to take the third set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
Lawrence 3 Rockford 0
- Rockford scored the first two points of the opening set, capped off by an Amelia Rodriguez kill, to take a quick two-point lead.
- After Lawrence rallied to grab a 7-5 advantage, the Regents went on a 13-4 spurt to take the largest lead in the set for either team at 18-11. Five different Regents each had a kill during the run and Leila Cooks added a pair of service aces.
- However, the Vikings responded with a 10-2 run of their own to retake the lead at 21-20.
- After Rockford tied the score at 21-21, Lawrence scored four of the final five points to win the first set 25-22.
- The second set got off to a rough start with Rockford quickly falling behind by a score of 9-3.
- Rockford was unable to get any closer than five the rest of the way and dropped the set 25-18 to fall behind 2-0.
- The Vikings seized control of the third set by going on a 10-2 run to take a commanding 15-5 advantage.
- Lawrence outscored Rockford 10-6 the rest of the way to win the set 25-11 and the match 3-0.
