Men's Track & Field Places Seventh at St. Norbert Early Bird Meet

DE PERE, Wis. -- The Rockford University men's outdoor track & field team competed in the first outdoor meet of the season and placed seventh on Saturday, at the St. Norbert Early Bird Meet. 

In the field events, Anthony Joyner made a throw of 13.46m (44-2) in the Shot Put to place sixth out of 22 competitors. In the Discus, he made a throw of 28.96m (95-0) to finish 16th. 

On the track, Marquavion Young, Gavin Collier, Jack Potter, and Nahome Zere ran the 4X100 relay with a time of 49.10, placing third.

In the 1500m race, Miles Lang placed 14th with a time of 4:26.47. Rounding out the rest of the Regent participation in the 1500 was Nicholas Greenland, placing 17th clocking in at 4:31.73, James Wallis finishing with a time of 4:40.51, placing 20th, and Troy Niles finishing in 24th with a time of 5:01.04. 

Collier and Young both ran the 400m. Collier clocked in at 55.61 to finish seventh while Young placed ninth with a time of 58.29. 

Zere and Young both competed in the 100m and finished 21st and 22nd respectively. Zere finished in 12.75 and Young ran the race in 12.81. 

Four Regents ran the 800m. Lang placed fifth with a time of 2:08.76. Greenland was just under eight seconds behind finishing the 800 in 2:16.33. Wallis finished in 12th place with a time of 2:21.37. 

Collier and Zere rounded out the production on the track both running the 200m. Collier clocked in at 24.63 to place 11th and Zere finished in 26.02 to place 17th. 

The Regents will return to action on Friday, April 10, at the Beloit Relays at 5 p.m. CDT.
