MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team fell in four sets on the road Friday night to the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors. After dropping a tight first set, Rockford rallied to win the second set and tie the match at 1-1. Unfortunately, Wisconsin Lutheran won the next two sets and went on to win the match 25-21, 20-25, 25-11, 25-17. While the Warriors dominated most of the offensive stats, Rockford did an excellent job on the defensive side of the ball. The Regents and Warriors each tallied 35 digs and Rockford had a huge 9-1 advantage in blocks.
- The first set was extremely close with neither team leading by more than four at any point.
- Rockford jumped out to a quick 4-2 lead before Wisconsin Lutheran scored the next four points to take its first lead of the match.
- With Wisconsin Lutheran still clinging to a 22-21 advantage, the Warriors tallied the final three points to take the opening set 25-21.
- Rockford again got off to a fast start in the second set, jumping out to a 4-1 lead. Della Crain led the way with a pair of service aces.
- The Regents built their lead up to as many as four points on several occasions midway through the set.
- With Rockford now holding a slim one-point lead at 21-20, the Regents ran off the final four points to win the second set and tie the match. Melody Moreno led the offensive attack, smashing home the final two points of the set.
- Unfortunately, Wisconsin Lutheran controlled the third set from start to finish.
- The Warriors jumped out to a 12-3 lead en route to winning the set 25-11 and taking a 2-1 advantage.
- The fourth set reverted back to a hard-fought tight battle like the first two.
- Rockford jumped out in front early, leading by two points on several occasions, including at 7-5.
- Wisconsin Lutheran then went on a 5-1 to take its largest lead of the set thus far at 10-8.
- With WLC now leading by one at 17-16, the Warriors closed the match on an 8-1 run to win the set 25-17 and the match 3-1.
