ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team dropped all three sets to the Aurora University Spartans on Tuesday evening. The Regents faced a number of struggles as the Spartans maintained control for most of the match, Rockford managing to lead only a select number of times before the match point. Aurora topped RU in kills (42-19), aces (12-3), assists (41-19), and digs (52-44) on its way to a 3-0 victory.
- Rockford and Aurora traded blows for the first points of the night, working the score to 7-6.
- The Spartans pulled away to a four-point lead shortly after, holding it until a 12-1 run shut down the Regents and gave Aurora the first set win 25-11.
- A back and forth start to the set went in the Regents favor with a 6-1 run establishing a 10-8 lead for Rockford. Jessica Witkowski finished the run with a service ace.
- Aurora responded immediately with a 5-1 run to make it 13-11, followed later by another 11-4 run to put AU at set point for the second set of the night at 24-16.
- Rockford grabbed two more points, including a Nicole Eggers ace, but the Spartans got the 25th point directly after, earning the second set win 25-18.
- Set number three got underway with two straight Regents points, but was quickly topped with four by Aurora, opening a 4-2 lead for AU.
- RU kept within two points of the Spartans, but a four-point surge by Aurora stretched the lead to 11-5.
- Rockford did everything it could to pull back into the match, only getting within five points, before one last 4-0 run at the 19-13 mark created a 10-point lead.
- Rockford earned a service error point and Della Crain got one final kill before Aurora scored the match point and took the final set and match at 25-15.
