ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team took a tough loss to Aurora 3-0 in this Thursday night NACC matchup. Aurora was in control of the entire match leading in kills (55-21), aces (5-1), blocks (3-1), assists (51-18), and digs (63-58). The Regents had a tough time getting it going and unfortunately dropped the match 3-0 to the Spartans.
- The first set started out pretty close with the Spartans leading 9-8 with the Regents getting 2 kills from Tamsy Leverton to help them keep pace with the Spartans.
- Unfortunately, Aurora went on a 16-5 run to take the first set from Rockford, 25-13, and start out 1-0 in the match.
- The Regents got out to a hot start in the second set taking a 10-6 lead backed by 2 kills from Alexis Brashaw and Amelia Rodriguez.
- This set turned out to be very close with the Spartans having the lead 21-18 with the Regents getting some production on 2 more kills from Alexis Brashaw and 1 from Melody Moreno and Leila Cooks.
- The Spartans were able to hold on though and take the second set 25-21 from the Regents to go up 2-0 in the match.
- The third set started out even with the set getting off to a 5-5 score, with Rockford getting an ace from Jasmine Landberg and a kill from Leila Cooks.
- Unfortunately for Rockford, Aurora was able to steal the third set from the Regents 25-17, to take the overall match 3-0.
