FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team fell in straight sets on Saturday afternoon to the Marian University Sabres. The Regents got off to slow starts in both the first and second sets that they were never quite able to recover from, falling 25-11 and 25-13. However, the third set was a completely different story. Rockford and Marian traded points the entire way, and the Regents had a set point at 24-23, but unfortunately, Marian scored the next three points to take the set 26-24 and the match 3-0.
- Rockford quickly fell behind 10-2 to start the first set.Â
- The Regents never got any closer than 6 the rest of the way, dropping the first set 25-11.
- Rockford once again got off to a slow start in the second set, falling behind 11-4.Â
- The Regents were able to cut the deficit back down to five points at 12-7, following an Alexis Brashaw kill.
- However, that was as close as the ladies could get, falling 25-13 in the second set.Â
- The third set was ultra competitive and went back and forth the entire way. The Regents and Sabres were tied 15 different times throughout the set.
- Rockford's first lead came at 5-4 and then again at 6-5 after an Alexis Brashaw kill.Â
- Neither team led by more than 3 points for the remainder of the set, with the largest lead for either team coming when Marian led 17-14.
- However, Rockford scored the next 3 points, including kills from Alexis Brashaw and Alexx Burton, to knot the set at 17-17.
- The set continued to go back and forth until Rockford had a set point at 24-23.Â
- Unfortunately, Marian scored the final three points to win the set 26-24 and the match 3-0.
