AURORA, Ill. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team fell 3-0 on the road to the Aurora University Spartans in a Thursday night NACC matchup. The Spartans were able to take control in kills 46-26, aces 14-3, assists 44-25 and digs 44-31, the Regents were able to take the edge in blocks 3-2. The Regents did stick with the Spartans, getting out to a lead in each set, but found it tough to close out each set as Aurora was able to take control at the end of the set. This led to 25-14, 25-21, and 25-13 set scores and ultimately resulted in a win for the Spartans in straight sets.
- The Regents were able to get out to a 4-1 lead to open the first set after multiple errors by the Spartans.
- The Spartans were quickly able to go on a 9-3 run to take a 10-7 lead.
- Rockford did battle back after a kill from Madisen Perry put the Regents within one at 13-12, but the Spartans were able to ride a 12-2 run to take the first set 25-14.
- Rockford again got out to a lead in the second set after an ace by Melody Moreno for a 3-2 Regent lead.
- This second set was a battle with each team trading points with the Spartans getting out to a slight 11-10 lead.
- Aurora was eventually able to roll out to a 22-13 lead, but Rockford was able to go on a 7-1 run thanks to a kill from Ashley Miller, a kill by Amelia Rodriguez and an ace by Madisen Perry to put the Regents within three at 23-20.
- Unfortunately, the Spartans were able to hold on to take the second set 25-21 and go up 2-0 in the match.
- The Spartans got out to an 11-4 lead to start the third set and never looked back as they eventually took the third set 25-13 to win the match in straight sets.
