WATERTOWN, Wis. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team picked up an easy 3-0 win on the road Tuesday night at Maranatha Baptist University. Rockford absolutely dominated the Sabercats from start to finish. The Regents had 47 kills in the match, including 18 in the second set, which was more than Maranatha had in the entire match (15). Rockford also held the Sabercats to a negative hitting percentage (-.016), while hitting a solid .282 as a team.
- After Maranatha scored the first two points of the match, the Regents ran off 11 straight points to take a commanding lead. Melody Moreno and Tamsy Leverton each had a trio of kills to spark the Regent attack.
- Rockford extended its lead to as many of 17 points following an Amelia Rodriguez kill en route to winning the first set 25-9.
- The Regents again got off to a hot start in the second set. Rockford jumped out to a 10-3 lead with six different Regents tallying a kill over that span.
- The Sabercats crawled back to within four at 10-6, but the Regents used a 6-0 run to take a ten-point lead. Melody Moreno led the charge with three kills.
- Rockford pushed its lead up to a set-high 13 points on a Tamsy Leverton kill en route to taking the second set 25-13.
- The third and final set was up for grabs basically the entire way.
- There were a total of 13 ties and 10 lead changes in the set.
- After Maranatha took an early 4-2 lead, Rockford scored the next four points to take its first lead of the set.
- With Rockford still clinging to an 8-7 advantage, Maranatha went on a 6-1 run to take its largest lead of the match at 13-9.
- The Regents responded with four straight points of their own, capped off by an Alexx Burton kill, to knot the score at 13-13.
- The scored then ping ponged back and forth with neither team leading by more than a single point until the end of the set.
- With Maranatha holding a 21-20 lead, Rockford scored the final five points of the match, including a Leila Cooks ace to end it, as the Regents won the set 25-21 and the match 3-0.
- Melody Moreno led the Regents and tied her career-high with 16 kills, 13 digs and 2 aces.
- Alexx Burton finished with a season-high 10 kills and 7 digs.
- Jasmine Landberg had a match and career-high 20 digs, 9 assists and 1 kill.
