Men's Cross Country Finishes Eighth at the NACC Championship

AURORA, Ill. - The Rockford University men's and women's cross country teams both finished in eighth place on Saturday at the 2024 NACC Championships. The women's eighth place finish was the highest for the Regents since 2014 when they placed seventh, while the men's eighth place finish was the highest since 2022 when they also finished in seventh place. Individually, Rebekah Starwalt once again stole the show. Starwalt finished in 14th place to earn All-NACC honors. She also lowered both her personal best in the 6k and the fourth fastest time in school history by 0.4 seconds with a time of 24:32.2. Four other Regents also set new personal records on Saturday with a fifth running a new season best time.

Women's Results
  • The women's 6k race featured 106 runners.
  • Rebekah Starwalt finished in 14th place to earn All-NACC status at the 2024 NACC Championship. Starwalt crossed the finish line in personal best time of 24:32.2. Her time was the fourth fastest in program history, as she lowered her previous PR by 0.4 seconds.
  • Brianna Torres finished in 31st place and set a new personal best in the 6k by 5 seconds. Torres completed the race in 25:52.7.
  • Donna Whiteside lowered her PR in the 6k by an incredible 3 minutes and 6 seconds. Whiteside finished in 83rd place with a time of 31:12.9
  • Kieran Madigan set a new personal record by a minute and 22 seconds on Saturday. Madigan crossed the finish line in 34:26.0 to finish in 89th place. 
  • Jennifer Ruesch was the final Regent to break her personal record in the 6k. Ruesch completed the race in 36:48.9 to lower her PR by 1:10 and place 95th. 
  • Mia Cosentino finished in 99th place with a time of 41:00.0.
  • Reese Raisbeck finished in 100th place with a time of 41:11.4.
Men's Results
  • The men's 8k race had a total of 93 participants. 
  • Miles Lang was the top finisher for the men's team on Saturday. Lang finished in 41st place and crossed the finish line in 27:55.0.
  • James Wallis came in 61st place with a time of 29:12.5. 
  • JJ Newlin was just 2 seconds off his PR in the 8k. Newlin completed the race in 30:43.6 to finish in 73rd place.
  • Gavin Collier crossed the finish line in 78th place with a time of 31:09.5.
  • Christopher Duron Jr. set a new season best time in the 8k by 42 seconds. Duron finished in 84th place with a time of 31:59.5.
