ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team secured the win over Beloit College 3-1 (25-19, 15-25, 25-15, 25-12) to start the season. Rockford dominated in almost every facet of the match, leading in kills (49-35), assists (45-33) and digs (87-79) in what was a great start to the season for the Regents. This win over Beloit is good for the second straight win over the Buccaneers in as many seasons and the first time the Regents have won back-to-back games over Beloit since 2015.
- The Regents and Buccaneers got out to an even start with the Regents slightly leading 12-10 after a kill from Madisen Perry.
- Both teams continued to trade points until the Regents were able to go on a huge 10-2 run to close out the set, with two kills coming from Amelia Rodriguez and one each by Melody Moreno, Madisen Perry and Tamsy Leverton to take the first set 25-19.
- The second set also started out close with Beloit getting out to a 10-7 advantage.
- The Regents battled to within one after taking the next four out of five points, to make it an 11-10 score.
- However the Buccaneers took control of the set, riding a 14-5 run over the Regents to take the second set 25-15.
- The Regents got out to an 8-3 lead to start the third set thanks to two kills by Madisen Perry and one by Ashley Miller, Amelia Rodriguez and Melody Moreno.
- Rockford stayed in control for the entire set, never trailing and eventually closing the set on a 12-4 run to take the third set 25-15 and go up 2-1 in the match.
- Rockford got off to a scorching-hot start in the fourth set, scoring the first eight points of the set and looking to close out the match in four sets.
- The set found its way to a 16-8 Regent lead after a kill from Melody Moreno.
- Rockford was able to ride its hot start and score four straight to close out the fourth set 25-12 and take the match 3-1 in an impressive season-opening win.
