MEQUON, Wis. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team lost its first match of the season 3-0 on the road Tuesday evening at Concordia University Wisconsin. Rockford hung with the Falcons for the vast majority of the match. The Regents were within a few points late in both the first and third sets, but CUW proved to be too much down the stretch, winning 25-20, 25-14, 25-19. Statistically the Falcons led the Regents in kills (51-28), aces (9-0) and digs (38-34).
- Rockford scored the first point of the match and eventually built its lead up to as many as three points at 13-10. Madisen Perry led the RU offensive attack with four kills over that span, including each of the last two points.
- With the Regents still leading by one at 16-15, the Falcons scored the next six points to take a 21-15 advantage.
- Unfortunately, Rockford never got any closer than four the rest of the way and dropped the opening set 25-20.
- After losing the first four points of the second set, Rockford ran off six straight points to take the lead. Madisen Perry and Leila Cooks each smashed home a kill during the run.
- However, CUW answered right back with a 12-2 run to take an 18-8 advantage.
- The Falcons outscored the Regents 7-6 over the remainder of the set for the 25-14 win.
- Rockford again got off to a fast start in the third set grabbing a 7-4 lead. Three different Regents had a kill, including two each from Melody Moreno and Amelia Rodriguez.
- With Rockford still leading by two at 10-8, CUW used a 7-0 spurt to retake the lead at 15-10.
- The Regents continued to fight and were able to pull all the way back to within a single point at 19-18 and then again at 20-19 on a Jalyn Rhodes kill.
- Unfortunately, the Falcons scored the final five points to win the set 25-19 and the match 3-0.
- Madisen Perry continued her excellent play thus far this season with 11 kills and a .409 hitting percentage. She also added a season-high 8 digs to her totals.
- Melody Moreno finished 6 kills, 6 digs, 2 assists and a block.
- Leila Cooks added 16 assists, 8 digs and 3 kills.
