ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rockford University women's volleyball team fell 3-0 at home Thursday evening in a NACC matchup with the Concordia University Chicago Cougars. The Regents were able to keep pace with the Cougars for most of the match and they also led numerous times. The Cougars were able to take control in kills (40-32) and aces (10-5), but Rockford was able to take the advantage in digs (58-55). This unfortunately led to set scores of 25-23, 25-23 and 25-18, which allowed for CUC to walk out with the match win in straight sets.
- The Regents and Cougars opened the first set in a battle, trading points and leading to a 7-7 score to start the match. Tamsy Leverton and Melody Moreno both provided a kill and Madisen Perry provided an ace during this stretch.
- The Cougars found their way to a 23-21 lead, but the Regents were able to score the next two points to even the set at 23-23.
- Unfortunately, CUC was able to strike right back and take the final two points of the set to take a close set one 25-23
- Rockford was able to storm out to a 15-9 lead in the second set. Madisen Perry led the Regents with four kills during that span.
- The Cougars were slowly able to creep back into the set and eventually were able to tie Rockford at 22-22.
- CUC was able to take three out of the next four points to close out the second set and give themselves a 2-0 lead in the match.
- Rockford was able to open the third set with a slight 5-4 lead after an ace from Jasmine Landberg.
- The third set continued to be a battle with the Cougars eventually taking a 15-12 advantage, but Rockford was able to score the next four out of five points to creep within one at 16-15.
- Unfortunately, CUC was able to take control and go on a 9-3 run to close out the third set 25-18 and take the match in straight sets.
- Madisen Perry led the team with 10 kills on a .350 hitting percentage, she also picked up 6 digs, 1 ace,1 block and 1 assist.
- Melody Moreno delivered 7 kills, also picking up 12 digs, 4 assists and 1 ace.
- Jasmine Landberg had 17 digs with 3 assists and 2 aces.
- Leila Cooks picked up 12 assists, 6 digs and 1 kill.
